  • New Sun & Sky model

    Feature list
has a powerful Image Based Lighting implementation that while preserving all the details of your HDR images is blazing fast and reliable. We also added a new Sun & Sky, fully spectral, physically-based model. The cool thing is that the Sun comes with the Sky model, it's not simply a directional light as with the legacy Sun&Sky implementation, that means that shadows for example are physically based, while the Sun look has realistic properties like limb darkening and it depends directly on sky features like turbidity.
Users can also layer on top of the Sun&Sky the Image Based Lighting shader to get custom domes where clouds have been added from a photo for example. Sun position and sky brightness are based on date, time and location on Earth.

Hosek&Wilkie sky model

from latest computer graphics development. Corrects some defects from the Perez model and is overall more realistic and plausible than the old one. It also comes with an embeded sun.

Image Based Lighting

with adaptive construction for very fast and detailed lighting. Accepts any environment shader so you can even use those that you're already used to. However our environment shader can layer IBL over Sun&Sky.

Fast smooth shadowing

as the image based lighting shader cooperate with the Rombo.Material for very fast and clean renderings. You can still use your own materials however.

Sun position

is calculated via user controllable day and hour for dynamic and animatable sun position and colour. Sky brightness is automatically calculated based on sun position. The algorithm used has an uncertainty of +/- 0.0003 degrees based on the date, time, and location on Earth.

Rombo skylight features

  • Fast precise Image Based Lighting
  • Multi-threaded adaptive contruction
  • Importance based shadowing
  • Hosek&Wilkie sun and sky models
  • IBL and Sun&Sky HDR layering
  • Precise SPA algorithm for sun position
